Concerto Recipient Concert
Saturday, February 2, 2012 - 7pm
CSU, Waetjen Auditorium

Fanfare for the Common Man – Aaron Copland

Fanfare for the Uncommon Woman - Joan Tower

Concerto for Water Percussion and Orchestra, Movement 2 – Tan Dun
Eric Poe, percussion

Concierto de Aranjuez, Movement - Joaquin Rodrigo

This is the first time in our history that an entire concert is dedicated to CYO members as soloists. We always have one perform, after an audition process, with the orchestra on our opening concert each season. This season it became more obvious that the skill level is rising as well as the type of concertos these musicians are studying.

New Works Series

This concert series focuses on commissioning and premiering a concerto that features a member of the Cleveland Orchestra, a College or Conservatory teacher, and local and national musicians.

Works by young and emerging composer are often included in CYO's season opening concert emphasizing the creation of new music and the composers who contribute these NEW WORKS.

The recipient of our concert auditions and a major work from the 20th or 21st century are also featured in our NEW WORKS CONCERTS.
